Common Questions About Your Treatment
-
This is the most common concern we hear, but modern root canal treatment is typically no more uncomfortable than a standard filling. As specialist endodontists, we use advanced local anaesthetic techniques to ensure your tooth is completely numb during the procedure. Our goal is to relieve the pain caused by the infection, not create more. Most patients feel immediate relief after their visit.
-
While many of our patients are referred to us by their general dentist for complex cases, a referral is not strictly mandatory to book an appointment at North Western Endodontics. If you are experiencing severe tooth pain, have suffered dental trauma, or require a second opinion, you are welcome to contact our Moonee Ponds clinic directly to discuss your needs.
-
A Specialist Endodontist has completed an additional 3+ years of advanced university training specifically in root canal treatments and microsurgery. We use state-of-the-art technology, including operating microscopes and 3D imaging (CBCT), which allows us to treat complex structures that cannot be seen with the naked eye. This expertise leads to higher success rates and allows us to save and retain natural teeth that might otherwise need to be extracted.
-
The cost varies depending on which tooth is affected (molars are more complex than front teeth) and the severity of the infection. Because every case is unique, we provide a detailed treatment plan and cost estimate during your initial consultation. If you have private health insurance with "Major Dental" cover, a portion of the fee may be rebated.
